NWKC 2009 Grow and Show

Post by site admin »

Hi,
Is there anyone interested in a new 2009 Grow and Show competition?
As yet we have not formulated a plan or decided what variety of Koi to buy or where to buy from.
Last year we purchased the Koi from Richdon (kohaku) and from the few I have seen lately, they are coming along very nicely. When they are photographed and judged later this year, there should be some really nice koi.
It would nice to get a different variety this year, but with the exchange rate as it is, getting the right quality is going to prove difficult.
what we need is a lot of members to enter, this will give better buying power.

enough of a ramble

Dave,

We'd definately be interested, we've had a great amount of pleasure this winter in feeding the little thing in the garage and watching it grow a few millimeters. Anyway Sue needs something to look at out there while she's having a crafty ciggie.

As you say maybe interesting to have a different variety, see what people think.

Hi Dave,

I'm interested again. I recon my club G&S kohaku has done better than any of the previous four G&S koi I've had in Richdon's own contest. (I still couldn't resist entering again this year)

I'll put a piece in the next newsletter which should go out the beginning on next week. We can then canvas opinion at the next meeting and decide whether to go ahead and what variety.

Hi,
''Joke'' I don't like handling Doistu Koi, just like Eels.

That's a lie Dave! I noticed you caressing both of mine when you thought i wasn't looking. ;) More seriously though i would be very interested in participating. What about Ogon's/kigoi/saragoi ??( because when selecting your G&S the pattern would not be so important in the judging and more attention could be paid to the growth and deportmant/body shape side of things, just a thought) and i personally would like to keep the supplier as Richdons. :D :D

Mitch,
I thought you hadn't noticed.

I was thinking along the lines of Ochiba (scaled),Yamabuki,Soragoi.
really all depends on what we can get at a resonable cost.
I think that go-sanke will most likely be too expensive, to get anything worth growing on.
