Paul,
The shop selling it also sell UVC lamps, if it was that good they would not be selling the others. I have heard of magnets stopping limescale building up on pipework, but not clumping algae together. Something would have to be magnetically charged (algae = pos or neg)
Look for a good UV.

Hi,
In line Magnets and the Electronic RF (Radio Frequency) systems with coils around the pond pipework are supposed to work by altering the ionic charge of the water molecules.
They claim to remove limescale and also reduce the growth of filamentous algae such a sblanket weed.
Personally, I think it's a load of "Shoe makers"
