hi guys,
I am curious if you could help me figure out what type of young fish I have in my pond. we have goldfish, ghosties, koi, leather carp, golden rudd and green tench in there so it is a big mixture! the young are nearly all the same with a brown colour on top and shiny yellowy/gold sides( look like young mirror carp) is it possible to get mirror carp from crosses between ghosties? and there is a few orange and orange and black ones and there is at least one blue coloured fish. any help appreciated. will get pics if i can :D

Hadyn,

I believe the ghostie is a cross between a common carp and a koi and I'm certain it would be possible to cross a mirror carp with a ghostie as they are all basicically hybrids from the common carp.

It's most likely that it's only some of the dark fry that have survived from being eaten as they would have a better natural camouflage colour in the pond.

From a mass pond spawning it's always likely you'll get very varied results, it'll be interesting to see a few photos,
