Time for another sort out in the aquarium as it's starting to look very overcrowded. Once I started catching the fish I couldn't believe there were so many koi left in there, around 60 in fact, no wonder the water was looking a bit murky.
The 40 largest fry, ranging in size from 10cm to 15 cm, have now been moved to my growing on tank with around 20 of the smaller fish being returned to the aquarium. It's interesting to see how quickly some of the fry have caught up and passed their larger siblings from my last sort out in December, due almost entirely to the higher temperature in the aquarium (20C) compared to the growing on tank (16C).
Although there's still a long way to go in their development I've been very pleased the results from last years spawning, the result of a deliberate mass spawning in the pond which has given me a good range of varieties,

Some smart looking fish there Colin, definitely worth keeping/growing on, they look to be fit and healthy too.
