Re: Spring is nearly here!

Good to be out and about again and you were catching trout as well. I would put my money on your mystery fish being a male american brook trout. I booked a visit to Bodnant Gardens for yesterday, although with the travel ban and then the lock down I've missed the best of the Autumn colour this year....

Re: Spring is nearly here!

It's a very sad weekend for me, for the first time in my lifetime we've not been able to hold a bonfire party. Still the dog's happier there's few fireworks this weekend as he's really frightened of them and ends up cowering in the corner of the room behind the chair. Like you I'm busy planning wher...

Re: Spring is nearly here!

Glad to see you found somewhere to fish in Denbighshire, I bet it would have been even colder in Brenig. I've been there in the past and had my line icing up in the rod rings. Hopefully you'll be able to travel to fish in your usual haunts when the lock down is over.

Re: Spring is nearly here!

Phil I share your frustrations, unfortunately Chirk is in Wrexham. What about the fisheries at Llandegla and near Four Crosses, I think they are both just in Denbighshire.

Re: Spring is nearly here!

I went for a walk up Moel Famau a few days ago and I could see the heather was starting to bloom although it's perhaps a week or two from its best.

Although it's nice to see, it's also a sign that summer is coming to an end, not that we've had much summer weather lately.

Re: Spring is nearly here!

That's a disappointment with your UV. Some of these online stores have large catalogues on their websites but not such large stocks and rely on ordering stuff in one they get an order. Unfortunately in your case, it sounds as though their supplier is out of stock. I've been caught out like this more...

Re: Spring is nearly here!

Blackbirds like strawberries even more than cherries. Luckily I got the netting over the cherries in time this year, I've also got a net over the strawberries but still have problems with the occasional blackbird. My gooseberries are also inside the fruit cage so safe from predators. The fruit cage ...

Re: Spring is nearly here!

All my fruit trees seem to be doing very well this year with the best crop of cherries I've ever had. It's a busy time in the garden at the moment picking raspberries, strawberries and blackberries with the gooseberries and blackcurrants also starting to ripen. I'm also expecting a bumper crop of ap...

Re: Spring is nearly here!

I've just had to replace my TMC 110w UV, again after about 6 years of use, I'm pretty certain it was the condenser unit that had packed up. I saw when I visited Quality Nishikigoi for the G&S that the EA 110w unit were similarly priced so there was no benefit changing to the EA unit especially a...

Re: Spring is nearly here!

Sorry about your losses, the heron is definitely not a koi keeper's friend. The novelty of the lock down is starting to wear off, although I'm probably much better off than most. Living on a country lane at the outskirts of the village I'm still able to take my daily walk with the dog and as I have ...
