Calculate your Pond Size

It is very important to know your exact pond volume for adding treatments, otherwise it is very easy to overdose. With certain medications this can have disastrous results.

Square or Rectangular Ponds
Multiply the length (ft) by the width(ft) by the depth(ft), which will give you the volume in cubic ft. Then multiply the answer by 6.25 this will give you the gallonage.

Measure accurately do not assume it is, say 5ft deep when only 4.5ft the resultant gallonage will be more than the actual and consequently you will overdose.

Circular Ponds
Multiply the radius by the radius, and then multiply this result by 3.142(pi) this will be the area of the pond, multiply this by the depth(ft) and this will give you the volume, multiply this by 6.25 to find the gallonage.

e.g The pond is 12ft wide and 5ft deep, so (6 x 6) = 36, (36 x 3.142) =113.1. (113.1 x 5) =565.5, (565.5 x 6.25) = 3534.75 gallons.

This can be done with a bit of forethought, i.e. when filling the pond use a water meter, the tricky ones to work out are ponds that do not conform to a regular shape, these are best done by splitting the pond into sections.
