3. if you could by any variety of koi tomorrow, what would it be?

Here goes:
1. Showa. First one picked amongst a batch of 6 small koi bought to grow on. Others included Chagoi, Sanke, Shusui, Kikusui.
2. Chagoi ( 2), Kohaku (2 + 3 babies in Growing tank),
3. Hi Utsuri. Love 'em

Good questions Martin,
question 1 - phew, its a while back and I'm sure it would have been something from a garden centre, if my memory serves me right it was a 'pick 'n mix' bunch of six ! And they were put in with my large goldfish and orfe. The first one I can defintely recall in my koi only pond was a Kin Matsuba we called 'Kendo'.
2 - no pond at the moment. Earlier ponds were mixed koi, then go sanke only.
3 - If I could choose a koi to be in my pond it would be sanke. Preferably Matsunosuke, elastic beni, fukarin, and atarashi sumi would be brill'. I don't ask for much !

Interesting topic,
1st koi bought was like most a mixed selection of three, the first one out being a ghost koi, the other two were kohaku's.
Most in pond would be showa, four of them in my collection and one of Dave's visiting at the moment.
Next one up maybe a purchase on Sunday and its likely to be a showa or kohaku.

Mine were the 6 for price of 5, or was it 5 for the price of 4, any way they were from a garden centre, and which promptly all ended up in the great pond in the sky
No filters No knowledge = dead Koi.
My first proper Koi were a Sanke and Ki Utsuri both of which I have still got, but have grown some what since.
