Hi Phil,
The dark areas have faded but the red has remained strong and hopefully will remain so in the future. My own G&S fish has altered exactly the same but I don't know if the koi will darken again in the future. The goshiki has been grown on inside so maybe it will change again once it's in an outside pond.
Maybe it's a trait of this breeders koi that they lighten up as they grow, I'll have to ask Tim Waddington the next time I call in to Quality Nishikigoi.

I guess Phil's going to be able to answer his question himself over the coming years, he was the lucky winner of the goshiki raffled at the December meeting,

10 goshiki have been submitted for judging, all have been photographed and the photographs are being sent toTim Waddington of Quality Nishikigoi for judging.
We will be announcing the winners at the club's November meeting when trophies will be presented to the winners.
The numbering of the photos is not the same as the numbers of the original photos so if you want to compare the before and after photos you'll have to do a bit of detective work. Some, but not all, of the goshiki have lightened up as they have grown and spent time in Welsh ponds.
Here are the photos in no particular order.
More to follow.

And finally last, but by no means least.
As always the rate of growth has varied a lot depending on whether the koi have been kept in an unheated pond or has spent some time at least in a heated growing on tank.
The results have been extremely mixed as the koi have grown with some very pleasing results and also some disappointments.
I'll post the results after the club's November meeting.

Here are the results as Judged by Tim Waddington of Quality Nishikigoi. The koi were supplied by Quality Nishikigoi in Spring 2014.
Third Place Koi No 5 Owned by Dave Wilson
Second Place Koi No 1 Owned by Majdi Jerbi
Winner Koi No 3 Owned by Keith & Sue Limbert
We also voted for a members champion at the November meeting and although the same 3 koi took the first three places, the winning koi this time was koi No 5.
