Hi Gazz,
Welcome to the forum,do not be afraid of asking any questions, this is how we all learn about the great hobby Koi keeping.
First can I ask how deep is your pond? so we can work out the total gallonage, this really determines the number of koi it should be stocked with.
As for keeping the water clear of algae, there are different types.
If the pond is green the way of clearing it, is with a UV lamp.
If the algae is long stringy stuff, this is blanket weed, which usually forms in clear water.
A pond will also take time to mature, can be up to a year or more.
The first thing you should be checking is the water parameters,
ammonia, nitrite these are produced when the koi start feeding.
ask away.

Hi Gaz,
With the depth being 3ft, you have about 780gallons.
What size are the koi you have stocked?
With small ponds (and I have got one) the secret is having a filter system that can punch its weight, if fact the filter must be oversized for the size of the pond. Also the ease of maintenance for this filter is very important.

Hi Gaz,
The pump is pumping 1200 l/hr or 266 gal/hr that means you are turning the whole pond over every 3hrs, which to be honest is not fast enough for a Koi pond of that size, you should be looking at turning the whole pond over every hour.I think you will end up with debris left in the pond rather than in the filters. The number of Koi you have got is fine for now, but when they grow you will be overstocked.
I have a small koi pond of about 700 gals and have only 4 koi in it.

Something like an Oase 3500 /4000 these come with a 5yr warranty and are very reliable and low wattage(cheap to run)50-60watts.
If you are close to the Area, why not come for a chat at our monthly meeting tomorrow.Nothing like getting different opinions about things.

If you're in the area, or not too long a drive from N Wales, make contact. You'd be more than welcome to come and see a couple of our member's ponds. It might help you to see the various possibilities in terms of filtration, pumps, pond styles etc.

All the best
