PEACH TREE

Post by pollygog »

Last year I grew a Peregrine peach tree for first time and got three large peaches on it. Despite cold spell my peach flowered approx 28th Feb same time as it did last year and today I have just thinned 20 tiny peaches off leaving about 40 -ish left. I will thin them again when they are the size of grapes in about 6-8 weeks time to about 15 fruits otherwise you end up with a lot of small peaches. The peach is on a dwarfing rootstock and at two years old is only about 140cm tall. It quite happily grows in a 18in tub in my polycarbonate greenhouse, the only heat it has is a fan heater switched on at end of January set to come on at 38f just to keep it frostfree.

Guess what ! I've bought another peach, I'm so delighted with success of first (and two apricots as well). Will give more details if anyone interested as I know a lot of koi keepers are keen gardeners too.
