FURTHER TO MY ECO-SYSTEM ARTICLE

Post by pollygog »

I had an ecological disaster this year regarding the frogs in my wildlife pond this spring, out of twelve lots of frogspawn laid only about two dozen tadpoles emerged. Within a fortnight they had all gone, most probably been eaten by the voracious newts who share? the pond. on the mud surface on bottom of pond I could see hundreds of obviously sterile eggs.
I was so concerned I emailed the Wildlife Trust Wales who replied with a stockanswer, no help there I'm afraid.
In forty + years of pond keeping I have never known such a blank!.
I commented in a previous article on the frogs overwintering in bottom of my Nexus, so, I got to thinking, did the constant noise and vibration cause stress induced impotence or did it just shake the knackers off them!
