Window Sizes

Post by sean080181 »

Hi, just a quick question. When chosing the size and number of viewing windows is there a general rule of thumb in relation to the size of your walls. Im building a 10 by 8 2500 gallon pond and wanted two 3 by 2 windows, one on the 10 foot side and one on the 8 foot.

Was thinking of having these from the surface down 2 foot. Would they be too big or is two windows too much on a pond that size??

Any ideas would be breat

Thanks

Sean,
I can see no problem with the size you have quoted, just make sure that the walls either side of them are strong enough to hold them in place without 'Any' movement. If there is movement the seal will be broken and a leak will be the result. Use plenty of sealer and it will be OK.

Im a little confused, 2 local glass suppliers have said 10mm will be more than enough. Also been told that 5.5" solid block 7n strength will be again, plenty to hold. Seems the glazers and builders say alot less than the koi hobbisists. arrgghh

The problem with glass suppliers, can they gurauntee that it will not crack?
Have you tried Pilkington's St Helens?
140mm solids should be OK.
