Spring is around the Corner

Post by site admin »

With the increase in temperatures, be careful that you don't feed your Koi too much, too soon as your filters will not cope with the increased feeding and your water parameters will suffer.
Feed sparingly for the next couple of months until the temperature rises enough for the filter bacteria start to multiply.
Why not give your filters a boost with an addition of liquid filter start, when the temperature reaches 16degC.
Continue to monitor your water parameters weekly, this will give an indication of how efficiently the filters are working.

What temperatures are unheated ponds reaching now after the last week or so of warmer weather?

Hi,
7.0 degC this afternoon, Koi looking for food, but only feeding small amount of wheatgerm every other day. Slowly does it as the weather has not settled yet, most likely we will get another cold snap.
