Dave,
I'm not sure we really need 'before' photos of the Chagoi, they all look very much the same to me. I've got a camera we can use to photograh them although I'm sure the photo's won't be up to your standards,
Colin

Dave,
Thanks very much for all the pictures posted and the accompanying narative. I look forward to seeing the four koi you have bought when you eventually get them back home,

Re: Hi, new to koi keeping
Hi Hadyn, That's not a pond its a lake. As Dave has said you do not have to have a filter and can rely on mother nature to provide the filtration. Until all your plants are established I would refrain from adding any more fish. One problem you are certainly going to have as the weather warms up is g...

Hi Mitch,
I didn't know you were into goldfish. I've got a small kigoi you can have in the spring,

Re: NWKC 2009 Grow and Show
Hi Dave, I'm interested again. I recon my club G&S kohaku has done better than any of the previous four G&S koi I've had in Richdon's own contest. (I still couldn't resist entering again this year) I'll put a piece in the next newsletter which should go out the beginning on next week. We can...

Re: Home bred Shiro Utsuri
Hi Dave, Yes there are plenty of very promising Shiros and the sumi seems to be improving now they are in the larger tank. Not sure how the few Showas are going to develop as the parent koi were all Shiros so the Hi may not be very stable. This year I'm going to try breeding with Showas. I did try a...

Home bred Shiro Utsuri
I've just been sorting out the Shiro's growing on in my 70 gal aquarium and was shocked to find there were 41 koi between 3 and 5 inches long. These were 1 to 1 1/2 inches long in October. I've now moved most of them into a larger tank. Some are looking quite promising as you can see from the attach...

Re: PLEASE HELP
Ian, As Dave says a salt bath shouldn't do any harm. Whilst you have the koi out of the pond you can clean up the fungus, also check on the condition of the gills. Fungus usually appears as a result of some other infection and is not generally a cause. At the current low water temperatures I don't t...

Re: PLEASE HELP
Ian, Reading your posts I would suggest that the high Am level, although very undesirable, is not the cause of the koi deaths but it may have been the low pH levels. In the tables I have, for a pH of 6.5 and a temperature of 10C the total Am reading (This is what is measured by the test kits) would ...
