Re: Spring is nearly here!

I've just paid my first visit of the year to Bodnant Gardens. I never realised that there were so many varieties of magnolia before and such a variety of flower types and colours, and they were all in flower. The rhododendrons should be flowering in a few weeks time although I missed the best of the...

Re: Spring is nearly here!

My own Denbigh plum is also laden with blossom this year as are the three nearby plum trees planted to aid pollination. plum blossom.jpg Not planted in the most photogenic of locations but it does seem to be growing OK since it was planted in 2015. I've also noticed there are not many insects about ...

Re: Spring is nearly here!

Spring is obviously a few weeks behind Trefnant in Mold, I've just noticed my first frogspawn this morning plus the daffodils have only just made it out by St Davids Day on March the first. One advantage of the recent cold weather is the snowdrops seem to have been in bloom for a long time this year.

Re: Spring is nearly here!

Very changeable weather at the moment. A few days ago sheep on the fields in the valley were all huddled up on a piece of higher ground to escape the floods caused by the river alyn overflowing, now the sheep on the higher ground are not looking too happy with the snow. Sheep in Snow.jpg The photo w...

Re: Spring is nearly here!

I went for a walk in Snowdonia yesterday. I pulled into the empty car park at Rhyd Ddu at 9.00 AM and when I returned 4 hours later my car was still the only car there, I know the weather was lousy but is there another lockdown I didn't know about? I managed to get a few photos although every time I...

Re: Spring is nearly here!

Good to be out and about again and you were catching trout as well. I would put my money on your mystery fish being a male american brook trout. I booked a visit to Bodnant Gardens for yesterday, although with the travel ban and then the lock down I've missed the best of the Autumn colour this year....

Re: Spring is nearly here!

It's a very sad weekend for me, for the first time in my lifetime we've not been able to hold a bonfire party. Still the dog's happier there's few fireworks this weekend as he's really frightened of them and ends up cowering in the corner of the room behind the chair. Like you I'm busy planning wher...

Re: Spring is nearly here!

Glad to see you found somewhere to fish in Denbighshire, I bet it would have been even colder in Brenig. I've been there in the past and had my line icing up in the rod rings. Hopefully you'll be able to travel to fish in your usual haunts when the lock down is over.

Re: Spring is nearly here!

Phil I share your frustrations, unfortunately Chirk is in Wrexham. What about the fisheries at Llandegla and near Four Crosses, I think they are both just in Denbighshire.

Re: Spring is nearly here!

I went for a walk up Moel Famau a few days ago and I could see the heather was starting to bloom although it's perhaps a week or two from its best.

Although it's nice to see, it's also a sign that summer is coming to an end, not that we've had much summer weather lately.
