Hi Dave, Yes there are plenty of very promising Shiros and the sumi seems to be improving now they are in the larger tank. I've just been sorting out the Shiro's growing on in my 70 gal aquarium and was shocked to find there were 41 koi between 3 and 5 inches long. These were 1 to 1 1/2 inches long in October. Ian, As Dave says a salt bath shouldn't do any harm. Whilst you have the koi out of the pond you can clean up the fungus, also check on the condition of the gills. Fungus usually appears as a result of some other infection and is not generally a cause. At the current low water temperatures I don't t...

Ian, Reading your posts I would suggest that the high Am level, although very undesirable, is not the cause of the koi deaths but it may have been the low pH levels. In the tables I have, for a pH of 6.5 and a temperature of 10C the total Am reading (This is what is measured by the test kits) would ...
