Re: New here :)

Hmmmm that works out £2800 just for the glassing @ 112 sq M i will be going down the box weld liner road i reckon Sorry I don't get it to that? Say 4.2M long x 3M wide and 1.8M deep. So, 2 sides 4.2 x 1.8 = 15.12 sq M 2 ends 3 x 1.8 = 10.8 sq M. and the bottom 4.2 x 3 = 12.6 sq M. 15.12+10.8+12.6 =...

Re: New here :)

Fiberglassing is the best and of course the most expensive, works out roughly £25 sq M. I have used a box welded liner in the past which was fine with plenty of polyflex to seal around Bottom drain, Skimmer and returns. And is a cheaper option. You will have to do a bit of searching for the best pri...

Re: New here :)

Hi, Welcome to the NWKC Forum. Ask away with your questions, but my advice to you would be to see as many ponds and their setup as possible. Bead filters are very good with a sieve in front, I would advise against the venturi as they put back pressure on the pump. To get Air in the pond is best with...

Visit to East Pennine Koi Club 19th June 2011

With a greatly reduced number of members we set off for the Sheffield area of the East Pennine koi club. It is a great shame that more members do not take part in the pond visit’s as they are super day out for all things KoiKichi. Pond 1. Was owned by Mick Davison, a rectangular pond of 3800gallons ...

Re: Strange illness

Hi,
If the dealer said they had been vaccinated for KHV that means they are Israeli koi and must not be mixed with Japanese koi, because they are technically carriers of KHV.

What is the Kusuri 'stuff' he gave you?

Re: Strange illness

Sort your problems out first, then get back in touch.
There are always Koi for sale from members wishing to move koi on at reasonable prices.

Re: Strange illness

Hi,
You can dip them in the salt for 5 mins, you can repeat daily if it is starting to help.

But please check your water parameters, if they are OK you can start looking for another cause of your problems.
But they more than likely brought them in with them?

Dave.

Re: Strange illness

Hope it goes OK for you.
Plenty of people in North Wales with koi.
keep us updated.
And a little tip, that you might have already guessed, don't buy from them again.
Plenty of safer places to buy from.

Dave.

Re: Strange illness

Hi, I do not think it is KHV, You need to get your water parameters checked ASAP, this is important. You can try giving the Koi a salt bath. only ever use pure dried vacuum salt (PDV) Not table. add 3 oz per gallon dissolve the salt first before adding the koi add a air stone for 5mins use a air pum...

Re: Strange illness

Hi, The Koi in question. Are the eyes sunken? Are the gills red? How long has the Koi been like this? I still think it may be a bad bacterial infection. If this does prove to be KHV, this is a Notifiable Disease that needs to be reported to DEFRA, also they will need to know where you bought them fr...
