Re: Spring is nearly here!

The heavy frost over the last few nights has made walking down by the river Elwy a lot easier now the mud is frozen solid, The two Missel Thrushes on either side of the river singing their hearts out was pleasant to hear yesterday morning and I got another view of one this lunch time when we got bac...

Re: Spring is nearly here!

Any unusual birds spotted in last weekends RSPB bird count? We had two Bald Eagles fighting over the carcase of a dead Griffon Vulture when suddenly an enormous Eagle Owl swooped down and killed and carried one eagle off, the other Bald Eagle then flew off with the dead vulture, pursued by a small ...

Re: Spring is nearly here!

A 6.05am post Colin, that's very early for the cold winter months, were you just rolling home from a riotous night on the town? I like the pic, I think your photo sums up sheep in a nutshell. Sheep have got to be the toughest creatures around, they are out in all weathers including the torrential ra...

Re: Spring is nearly here!

The Llanerch bridge picture posted on January 21st, I only just noticed that the large old oak tree that was growing alongside bridge on the far bank right hand side has also been ripped out and swept away. I looked on Google Earth this morning and noticed that several other large trees are also now...

Trefnant to Tremeirchion road bridge 21st Jan 2021.jpg Here is the view that appeared at dawn this morning after a day and night of continuous very heavy rain of biblical proportions in the Vale of Clwyd. Re: Spring is nearly here!

The beautiful snowy scenes in the Clwyds as seen above continue to attract the idiots here like wasps to a jar of jam! We are all in tier four or five yet still they arrive in their cars, mostly from across the border in England. We wonder; just what part of 'Stay at home, self-isolate, don't travel...

Re: Spring is nearly here!

The rain arrived on schedule Sunday night and with it a big temperature drop, Monday morning dawned fairly clear to a snow capped Clwyds, first snow this winter, just a topping to most of the range, Moel y Parc was just about dusted around the top fifty feet or so but it looked picture book pretty i...
